My Gym Journey
When I was in high school, I would always use our home treadmill and do some ab workouts π♀️πͺ. As I grew up, I started learning more about staying active at the gym, which I began going to during my freshman year of college. At first, all I did was walk or run on the treadmill because I was too scared to try something new—I didn’t want to look silly in front of everyone.
As I watched more workout videos online, I slowly gained confidence and finally got a Planet Fitness membership during my junior year. Even then, I still struggled to stay active and consistent, especially while being a full-time student and working π️♀️π.
About a month ago, I became more committed to the gym after seeing real progress—not just in my physique but also in my mindset π. Working out has helped me stay productive, reduce stress, and gain confidence in myself. I also started taking creatine and noticed even more improvements! However, I know that reaching my goals isn’t just about working out—it also requires eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, and getting enough sleep π₯π¦π΄.
One of my biggest achievements so far is being able to squat 2 plates of 45s lbs on each side for one rep and hip thrust 2 plates of 45s lbs on each side for 10 reps! π️♀️π₯ Seeing how far I’ve come motivates me to push even harder and keep improving!
I’ll be honest—I still struggle with consistency at the gym. But I know for a fact that once I graduate, I’ll fully commit and finally achieve my dream body! πͺ✨ It’s never too late to start now, but progress counts a lot, and every small step makes a difference! ππ₯
Hi Alyssa! I loved reading about your fitness journey this week! I can definitely relate to what you discussed in the first paragraph about only walking/running on the treadmill because of fear of not knowing what else to do our fear of judgement. That's definitely something I still do to this day haha. I'm glad that during your fitness journey you've also developed a better mindset and more confidence in yourself!
